Following a devastating earthquake in Venezuela, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) requested urgent assistance through the International Humanitarian Partnership (IHP). In response, IHP mobilized a rapidly deployable light base camp to provide essential office facilities for up to 20 personnel, including OCHA staff and the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team operating in the affected region.
The deployment, scheduled for 30 June, is being led by Luxembourg’s Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), a trusted IHP partner with a proven track record in emergency response. Alongside the base camp, two specialized camp experts from Luxembourg will support setup and operations, ensuring a swift and effective humanitarian presence. The mission is expected to last approximately three weeks, reinforcing OCHA’s coordination efforts during this critical phase.
This rapid response highlights IHP’s ability to mobilize expertise and resources at short notice, strengthening international disaster relief efforts in collaboration with key partners. The base camp will serve as a vital operational hub, enabling humanitarian teams to assess needs, coordinate assistance, and deliver aid more efficiently in earthquake-affected communities.
