IHP Focal Points Gather in Luxembourg for Internal Review Workshops

In June 2024, the International Humanitarian Partnership (IHP) convened its annual focal point meeting in Luxembourg, hosting a series of pivotal internal review workshops. Designed to foster dialogue, collaboration, and strategic planning, these workshops marked a significant step in the IHP’s internal review process for 2024–2025. The event brought together representatives from IHP’s member and partner organizations, focusing on strengthening the partnership and charting its future trajectory.

Exploring the ‘Why, How, and What’ of IHP

The workshops aimed to create a shared understanding of the partnership’s current state by addressing key questions about its purpose, processes, and outcomes. Divided into five structured sessions, the workshops explored both immediate concerns and mid- to long-term aspirations.

The first three sessions, collectively titled “The Now,” analyzed the partnership’s present landscape. Participants delved into critical aspects of IHP, asking:

  • Why does IHP exist?
  • How does IHP operate?
  • What does IHP achieve?

These discussions provided a forum for open dialogue, encouraging diverse perspectives and fostering mutual understanding among members and partners.

Envisioning the Future of IHP

Building on the insights gained during “The Now” sessions, the fourth session, titled “The Future,” focused on envisioning IHP’s trajectory. Participants explored short-, medium-, and long-term strategies to enhance the partnership’s effectiveness and resilience. This forward-looking session provided a roadmap for adapting to emerging challenges and opportunities in the humanitarian sector.

Distinctive Approach for Members and Partners

Recognizing the unique needs and objectives of its members and partners, the workshops were conducted separately for each group. Despite the distinct formats, all sessions adhered to consistent guiding questions, ensuring alignment in outcomes while respecting the diversity of perspectives within the partnership.

Laying the Groundwork for Future Recommendations

The workshops represent a critical step in the broader internal review process, which aims to formulate actionable recommendations for strengthening IHP. By fostering a collaborative and reflective environment, the sessions have laid a solid foundation for building a more cohesive and effective partnership.

A Commitment to Collaboration and Growth

As the IHP looks to the future, the insights and recommendations emerging from the June 2024 workshops will play a vital role in shaping its direction. The event underscored the partnership’s commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration, ensuring it remains a dynamic and responsive network in the face of evolving humanitarian challenges.
