Other missions

Malawi Floods

In January 2015, Malawi experienced devastating flooding that affected over 1 million people, displaced more than 336,000, and resulted in 100 fatalities. The floods caused widespread damage to crops, livestock, and infrastructure. In response to a request from the Malawian government, an UNDAC (UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination) team was deployed by UN OCHA to assess the situation and provide guidance.

Haiti Earthquake

In the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, IHP supported the UNDAC operation in the country and set up a base camp for over 300 humanitarian workers, making this operation the IHP's biggest base camp operation ever.

Bihar Floods

During the 2008 Bihar floods in Nepal, Sweden, as part of IHP, provided ICT support to UNDAC. The deployment included satellite phones, laptops, and internet connectivity, enabling efficient coordination and communication in flood-affected areas. This critical support facilitated rapid needs assessments and streamlined relief efforts.
